Blurry or pixilated text in Ableton Live

This does not have to do w/ retina displays.
I have a 1920x1080 display on a PC (not MAC).
This is basically a fix for high res screens that aren't retina, but for all I know this may fix retina issues as well.
There were a lot of posts all over about blurry or pixilated Ableton displays, mostly text blur issues. I wasn't sure where to to put this solution, so I started a new thread...my first post here.
None of the many threads that I found really helped. A big thanks to PC Audio Labs who sold me my DAW and cured my woes:
1. find the Ableton executable file - which is usually in c:\programdata\ableton\live 9 suite\program\
2. then right click on the .exe
3. select "properties"
4. then under compatibility, tick the box next to "disable display scaling on high DPI settings".
You may have to close and open the Ableton for the changes to take effect.
Not great photos, but on my end its night-and-day wonderful!
Photos are on Google Drive, I couldn't show images in this forum with the [img] tags:
before (at 100% in preferences/look-feel/zoom display) -
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2a9tZ ... cB9x-9_uJA[note that although the photo shows the disable box clicked the changes have not been applied in the photo yet]
after (at 120% because everything shrank and I had to increase the display)

anyone know of a similar workaround for macs? I'd like to have non blurry text on zoom settings other than 100 or 200%

That tip just prevented me from returning my 2nd hand Surface Pro tablet.
Now Live9 is crystal clear in all zoom sizes.
Thanks a lot!

This worked great except now everything is too small even after I changed the zoom display to 200%. The preferences are so small they're pretty much unreadable too.
Any tips for keeping the crispness but making everything normal sized?

Hello all,
my problem: I use Win7 64bit and may not change the settings mentioned above.
They appear grey and I can not aktivate or deaktivate them.
Any suggestions what to do, when those properties appear grey?
TNX, Dandy
WORKARROUND: I can still not change those settings, but I managed to get clear ableton letters -->
i had the letters set to GIANT in my system settings. Now that I put them back to Standard (100%)
Ableton Live appears CLEAR. Unfortunately all my computer is set back to tiny letters, which I cannot read without my glasses on.
I would still be thanksfull for a better solution.
Dandy

SAME...When i do disable the display scaling it does get crisp but just way too small to read. There has to be a fix for this.

This worked amazing! Thank you. It was a little different on my computer running Windows 10 and using Live 9.
Follow the same steps until you are at the compatibility tab, then click Change High DPI Settings.
Then check the box for Override High DPI Scaling behavior.
In the drop down menu below I selected Application (Live 9).
Hope this helps and thanks again.
