What's the easiest way to save a DR with its contents ??

Thanks, i've made a search and read this before posting. But this is not answering the question.
I know how to collect and save a project, and this is what i've always been doing, but i'd like a way to simply save a Drum Rack without having the unnecessary and hard-drive greedy step of collect and save.

No one ?

i'll pretend i'm naive and ignore your pedantic tone, and try to understand how this helps me to install a drum rack on another computer without having to create a new project :

Once again, you want to create the drum rack and save it. Ok, you should have done that in the previous steps. Now, what you need to do is drag that saved preset into the "Places" area into the section called "Current Project". Once you have dragged into there, you should see 3 folders:

your ableton set, your samples folder, and now your adg file.

Then you want to click in the blank space beneath the files/folders and click manage project. This will create an area on the right side of the screen where you can export your current project as a live pack, after you hit yes for the "collect into project" button for the samples."

So, it creates a Project with no .als file, a .adg file and a sample folder.

Then i can save it to the library, and delete the project folder.

But it's no way easier than just saving a new project and collect&save.

i admit i'm a bit confuse about the file management in this case :
Are the samples saved with the library in this case ?

Maybe topic title should have read: "Live Pack w/ external files using Drum Rack as .adg instead of .als"

I'm still very annoyed with this.
The goal is simple : I create a drum rack on one computer. I want to copy this drum rack to my computer.

I would love :

In the Browser, locate the preset file. Right-click : create a preset pack.

Then the created pack would allow you to install the preset (with the corresponding audio files) in the library.

Current best workaround is cumbersome :

Open a new live set. Open the Drum Rack in an empty track. Save the project. Collect and Save. Open on the new computer. Save the preset.

The Reddit method is about locating the .adg file and copying it, so it still leaves the op's question unanswered. If you copy an .adg Drum Rack to another computer, you still need to sort out the samples via for example Collect and Save.

It would be great to have an option for exporting a rack with its contents.

Answer:

Here’s how I do it.
On Ableton’s browser, right click on the drum rack and select “Show in finder”(on Mac)(will be different on Windows).

Now you can drop it on new folder, zip, and email that file. Or move it over to next computer however you like.

On second computer: Be sure to unzip and move to a location where you won’t lose it.

On second computer: open Ableton and it’s browser. Click on “Add Folder”. Locate and click on the folder

You should be good to go.
