Might be fun to anchor some tips by translating and interpreting those One Things into ableton concepts. I'll begin:

John Kameel Farah -Building Scales
https://youtu.be/vy2isW7G70s
Create a midi clip, and optionally set the start marker to a negative measure value. Use this negative measure space like a scratch pad for marking the notes that you chose, in this case in front of the piano. Once you have your note set, fold the clip and move the playback start marker to measure 1.1.1 You could delete the current notes and save the folded clip, but you could just leave the unplayed notes in place-they won't do any harm.

One thing that's wonderful about folding clips in this way is that just like the One Thing tip, these scales need not respect any theoretical nor repeating intervals. They really are their own creatures, and they are literally topographic to the register that you folded the clip. Now build your melodic pattern and basso continuo using this palate.

A couple good ones. Too many “programming” tips.
