Sustaining short samples/making them longer in Sampler

Post by marra » Thu Mar 30, 2017 3:03 pm

Hi,

What's the best way of sustaining short samples in Sampler? So far all I know is basic Ping Pong Delaying.
Its possible to set up loop points, so the samples will sustain, but I found it impossible to get a realistic sounding loop for every sample, so didn't do it. --Dave

sometimes you can loop and sometimes you can't
the trick is finding a smooth cycle and getting it on a zero crossing
snap sometimes needs to be turned off to find the sweet spot manually
Fade and length can help but unfortunately, warp has to be turn off

you could try stretching it with warping on some samples
since simpler can warp now you can just click the x2 button to double the length

Long delays and Reverbs can be used is some situations

it really depends on the sample and what you are trying to do with it.

I would use the loop functions via your simpler sampler.

Find a part of the sample where the sound sustains (just after the decay stage where the sounds volume is nice a level) nicely and create a short ish loop around there. It will be good to use your fade options.
