Making room in computer drive question
Making room in computer drive question
I have moved Ableton packs to an external.
What else can be moved to an external without creating problems short or long term?
Thanks

Re: Making room in computer drive question
Your song archives, your cat picture collection, any movies you’re not going to watch in the future, outdated gear manuals for things you don’t even own, your sample collection, all of the PDF brochures for the Hawaii tirp you never took, any songs I wrote, field recordings from your last trip to Nepal.
I’d start there.
I’d start there.
Re: Making room in computer drive question
My question is about Ableton files I can move out without creating problems. So far I have only moved out the Packs.
(Yes, I have already moved out most uneccesary big non musical files to External).

I don't know what else there would be in the Live library that is taking up much space if you already moved your own sample collection and the packs. Personally I'd leave the stock library as it is to avoid any issues, but that's just me.

I have not moved a Sample Collection. What are those?

Just your own personal sample library, if you don't collect samples than you can ignore that idea.

if you're talking Ableton files, then i think you're about done.
you could also move iTunes and/or other media Libraries to an external as well.
if you're are dying for space... you could move your VST folder there. Just remember to update the location in Live's preferences. And remember that if your drive is off, Live will not be able to scan it for VSTs on launch - so you'll have to scan manually or re-launch Live, if you forget to turn on the drive first.

Re: Making room in computer drive question
Between all my released tracks, Dj sets, and live sets my own music takes up about 48GB for just the 16bit masters. It happens when you get old.H20nly wrote:how many could he have on his driveTarekith wrote:any songs I wrote
