Hi guys.
I'm wondering if there is a device, M4L or VST that allow me to play a chord progression sequentially using just one midi note.
For example: I have the McMillen 12-Step foot midi controller and want to play a chord progression (12 chords) just by playing the C1 in my foot controller.
So when I play C1 on the foot controller lets say that Ableton Live plays a Dmaj, then I release and play again the C1 and Live plays a Gmaj, then I release and play again the C1 and Live plays a Em and so on. Just need one device or vst that jump from one chord to the next in a predefined sequence. Can be whit midi chord or an audio slice that contains the chord.
Any advice will help.
Rgds!
Trigger different chords/slices using just one single note ???
Re: Trigger different chords/slices using just one single note ???
I’d make a rack.
Use the ‘Random’ midi device to trigger sequentially increasing semitones.
Make a rack after that device which has a strip for each note that will be triggered.
Or have a drum rack after it that does the same.
Trying to think if there is an alternative to having to resort to using the Random decide.

Random MIDI Device made the trick for what I need.
Chance: 100%
Choices: (the number of chords or steps your sequence is) 12 in my case
Scale: 1 (number of semitones increments)
Mode: ALT
Sign: ADD
This and the KEY Zone Editor (map or assign each chord to a different key) works very good.
I was able to make it work on MidiEffectRack using a midiclip player (Lightweight) and over DrumRack using audio slices.
Hope it can help others.
Regards!

Using Random and Scale together works nicely, but is there a way to achieve a note sequence with more than 12 steps?

If you want external VST I would look at;
- AutoTheory
- Benjamin Soma Chord Player
- J74 M4L devices
- InstaChord
- Chordio
For making /detecting /trigger chord progressions;
- Captain Chords
- Scaler
- Sundog
- Suggester
They all do slightly different things and have various ways to operate - but may help.
