HI,
I would like to import and convert .exs Sampler Instruments into Ableton. I came to the understanding that I need to add a new folder and select my S I folders that i want to import and convert. Then I drag it into Ableton on a midi track and Ableton will ask me once where the instrument is located.
Problem: All the exs-instruments are greyed out. Why is that?
the option "collect files on export" is on "always"

Re: Importing Exs-instruments into Ableton
No, you need to convert it using Sampler.
But honestly, this is from the early days of Live and it never gets updated so most of the time it doesn't work as expected.
Some .exs are quite old so might succeed with some of them, though.

Are they not being converted by dragging the .exs to the track (at least thats what it says in the Forum)?
It then asks me where the file is located (which is greyed out). If i press cancel then, it puts the instrument as an .adv into the imports folder of the sampler (so i do have converted instruments) as it should have, but then it is "empty": So I can open the instrument but it says "sample is offline"...
