I literally can't hear anything at all in ablation, aside from a very very very faint something that tells me the sound IS playing, but doing so so softly as to be functionally silent. I can see the notes being recorded, my launchpad and launchkey ARE working. And my TRACK setting is on. I can see the note in the monitor.
But I cannot hear ANYTHING, even though my sound is at 100% on my PC (to the point where everything else on my PC is dangerously loud). Ableton is completely and totally unusable in this state; I'm not Beethoven that I can compose without hearing things. I even checked to make sure it wasn't something with the launchpad by using melodics, and it both responds properly and has more than enough volume with my PC at 20% (at 100% it ear shatteringly loud in melodics). If I can't find a way to turn up the volume in Ableton to be audible, I simply can't use it.
This is not about the COMPOSITION volume. It's about the output of the program itself, that I listen to while composing.

Did you check Live's volume in Windows' Volume Mixer (right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar)?

Of course. That's what I meant when I said maxed out.

What audio device are you using? Does that have its own control app?

Just a pair of headphones. Uses the standard windows audio.
