I am trying to get Ableton live to work like my Boss RC3 loop pedal. It automatically establishes the length of the overall song by the first loop. After that, any secondary loops fit inside of the first loop's timeline. Is there any way to create a similar "Master Loop" in LIve without having to predefine the number of bars?
For a handy low cost foot switch, I got a Logitech K400 WiFI Keyboard (Any USB Keyboard Will Work) and popped off most of the keys leaving 7 keys spread out on the keyboard. (~, 4, 8, =, z, b, and ?) Then I put a square of thick foam rubber weather stripping on each of the 7 Keys. This gives you space to use each key as a foot operated switch without accidentally hitting other keys. The self adhesive weather stripping protects the switch from over stomping. Then I key-mapped each key to control record and stop functions on 3 armed loop channels ( 1 was left switch unused)

Does Live's Looper audio effect device not work for you?
