Building midi overdub clips on the fly

Post by lenb » Thu May 14, 2020 3:33 am

I would like to be able to build on a clip by duplicating the clip and then overdubbing in real time. So for example record a clip with just a kick drum then duplicate the clip and overdub snare. Duplicate again and overdub hihat on top of the kick and snare. By doing this I can go back and play the original clip or the other variations as needed. I want to do this while the song is playing without stopping. I am using session record button and the track record button in session view. So I launch the armed duplicated clip with session record button on to overdub. The problem is recording starts immediately instead of on the next downbeat as when a clip is launched without overdub. I’ve searched and watched tons of youtube vids and not found an answer. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That sound like a job fro ClyphX Pro, many loopers use it to achieve this...

https://facebook.com/groups/clyphx-pro and search looping for some ways to do it...
