Recording live sets in real time without gaps between patterns

Hi. I am trying to streamline my workflow for recording live sets built around 4- and 8-bar blocks with a number of audio and VSTI instruments. I have a push 2 and a nektar pacer for triggering keyboard macros.

I would like to be able to play the first clip on instrument #1 and queue up instrument #2 so that I automatically flow into the next part, recording in sync on the second instrument.

Current workflow
- set up existing 8-bar empty clips for each block
- -EnableArmOnSelection in options.txt
- start session record
- play the first 8 bars, and right at the tail end, trigger a macro which disables session record, right arrow (auto-arming on select), then re-enables session record
- play into the second 8 bar clip while the first loops

This needs close timing to flow into the second block. Any other suggestions or examples of artists working like this? Examples I could find had at least one loop of instrument 1 before flowing into instrument 2.

Thanks in advance!

Also, I have looked at setups like Anomalie's which makes heavy use of pre-defined session arrangements and chain selectors - www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-kJaD6htbg

This is an amazing setup. But I was hoping to go into an empty structure and just start jamming without needing to have the full arrangement in place to switch between patches and effects.
