Not Keeping Sustain On In MIDI Playback

Post by greasykid1 » Thu Jan 14, 2021 9:36 pm

I know there's a lot of questions regarding the way that sustain (CC64) is handled by Ableton. The issue at the start of clips, I have always gotten around by ensuring that I don't press down the pedal until the first note of the clip has been played. That makes sure that the press is registered inside the clip.

But today, Ableton just started a brand new (to me) strange, annoying thing to do with the same parameter.

I've recorded a piano part, including the sustain pedal. On playback, the clip starts OK, but the sustain is now just stopping at random points in the clip. It's not in the same places every time, and it's turning off in places where I can literally see in the envelope view that the sustain should be on.

I've never had this happen before. There's a chance it'll stop happening in an hour and I'll never see it again, I suppose, but I was wondering if this is a known thing, and if so, how do I stop it?

Thanks
