Show an image on scene launch

Post by donidozh » Tue Feb 16, 2021 5:19 am

It may sound weird, but I wanna pop up an image on scene launch

I use Ableton to play multitracks with my band and, as we don't have much time to rehearse new songs, we often write scores and read them as we play live; but it's a pain to carry stands and load up PDFs for each member every time.
We have a big confidence monitor that we can use to show the scores and I though it would be awesome to automatically change for each song when we hit play on a scene.

Is there a way to do that?

I'm looking for the exact same thing! Were you ever able to find a solution?

I built a dashboard for my live band using Max for Live, and one part of that shows different images based on a MIDI clip. There's no bespoke device that I could find but the programming for that part is pretty straightforward: have a MIDI clip with different notes for each image, then route those notes to the relevant image using Max's "pic" command. Note that all the images need to be in a folder within Max8>Library.

^this.
Plus don't forget to set the MIDI clips that trigger the images to 'no quantization', so the score can appear slightly before the music.
