I have a memory of somehow pressing notes on my midi keyboard, then clicking the corresponding spot in my midi clip, and it would enter a note with the velocity I just played. I did this on clip view, without hitting the record button. It wasn't using any plugins or midi effects.

I can't for the life of me remember how I did this. Is it a setting I'm missing? Someone help me out.

Possibly Step Recording.

It’s done by activating the monitoring icon in notes view and using the arrow keys (which can be midi mapped).
