Stereo Mixing Calculator

Post by vereiser » Wed Feb 01, 2023 11:19 pm

I build a calculator for setting up a stereo mix.
It includes at the moment a calculation for reverb and delay.

Later I will add
- eq and compression informations for each instrument
- an ableton live project with presets to control the parameters calculated in the tool
- an explanation or video and
- if I'am good enough, everything controlable via Max (here I need assistance).

Go to Stereo Mixing Calculator

If you have advises, advise me. :-)

Version 0.50 - Compression settings

Post by vereiser » Fri Feb 24, 2023 12:39 am

I released an update of the tool.
Now it includes simple compression setting informations.
Later it will include a setup list for attack and release for each instrument type.

Stereo Mixing Preset

Post by vereiser » Tue Mar 07, 2023 8:15 am

I have created a preset file "Stereo Mixing Preset" for Ableton 11.2.10 (Download link below).

This preset has three main sections.
1. Composition (Arrangement)
2. Routing
3. Mixing (Mixing, FX = seperate send effects , X = Delay, Y = Room height, Z = Room depth)

For more informations look at the scheme above.

A friend of mine composed a little example for the preset. It shows how it is applied.
We used Ableton standard sets for the instruments.
Settings of the example for the calculator you can copy from the notices of the info track.

Post by vereiser » Mon May 01, 2023 7:56 am

New features:
1. Gate settings
2. Plate settings
3. Compression settings

Gate and compression are still work in progress. At the end these features include settings for hard, middle and soft configuration.
Some presets I will optimize in the future.

Version 0.61 - Direct Delay

Post by vereiser » Mon Dec 11, 2023 4:53 pm

I have added a delay information in the instrument settings panel:
Distance of the instrument to the listener for emulating the delay of sub bass or over tones.
This is the third dimension for recognition the instrument in the room. It represents the delay of the sound of an instrument, which the listener recives.

I made a correction of the layout in the instrument settings panel too.

With the next step I will integrate pictures to visualize the main eq triggers for every instrument type.
It is not a tool for myself.
So give it a try.
