How to do Live looping (ala Kid Beyond)?

Post by gnyg » Fri Aug 12, 2005 6:59 pm

Hi!

I hope anyone of you wiz would like to be pointed in the right direction..

I would like to do live looping with several instruments (audio recording) on the fly like Kid Beyond did with his voice.

Does anybody of you know how to do this? Could you give me a step by step instruction or a finished set up .als?

thanks in advance...

wow. That really is a tough one, since fluid looping in live is really the most difficult thing you can do with it, imo. How far have you gotten? Have you managed to set up an audio track, and started it recording your voice?
Do you own a midi controller? What kind of sound card do you use?

oh, and do you want to do it *exactly* like kid beyond, or do you want to develop a setup suited to your particular style of playing and tweaking?

Hi!

I have some experience with cubase so i know the principles of a DAW, but I'm relativly new to Ableton Live. I do not own a midi-controller yet, but I will buy a M-audio Ozonic next week (audio/midi interface)

My idea is to use guitar to play, record and loop, to record track by track and looping the tracks as i go. I plan to use a lot of pre defined effects and Eq's..

So in other words, I'm pretty much in the start up phase at the moment, just want to learn more about the possibilities within Live.

If you want to loop guitar, you need MIDI foot pedals. Like they Behringer job.
