"Step in" ??

Post by jmc » Mon Sep 19, 2005 4:35 am

Hey all, Forgive me if this is obvious, im a noob to the scene.

Anyways I was recently at a info session for cubase SX just to check out the features and stuff. I personally use live 5.0 but I was wondering if it could do this same thing that the guy mentioned that SX was capable of.

I beleive he called it "Stepping in", where say if i was recording a vocal track and everything was good until the 8th measure. In cubase he said you can basically set it up so the song plays but wont record until the point where you want it to. I thought this was pretty neat as the singer can sing along to herself, keeping a good feel, making the new part more alike with the rest of the song.

So is Live capable of this? and if so, how do we do it?

Thanks

It's more commonly referred to as punching-in and punching-out.

Live can do it. Set up punch-in and/or punch-out points, activate the punch-in and/or punch-out switches, record.

Manual,p. 140.
