Post by mrbyrd » Wed Jan 04, 2006 10:43 pm

I just bought live 5 and im having trouble locating my songs that are in itunes in the file brower on ableton. Is this because itunes saves songs in .aac format and not mp3 ?? If so is there anyway to change itunes to save in mp3 format! i know there has to be alot of other Mac user out there using ableton live 5 what would you suggest , for soing as far as making a libray to play in itunes and be able to pull up the tracks in Live as well!!

Live will not read your aac files. you'll have to convert them to mp3 (or aiff, or wav..). itunes will do the conversion unless the aac files in question are protected (purchased from ITMS) in which case you'll have to first burn them as audio to a cd, then move them back off the cd into your computer in whatever format you wish

In itunes go into your preferences....

Then choose encoding & then pick mp3

If you have them on CD to convert, rip the files to wav or aiff instead of mp3 ; the sound quiality is generally a lot better and you save live from having to uncompress them before use anyway. You'll lose some diskspace but its worth it.
