Well, you could try the Taurus:

http://antti.smartelectronix.com/

But most good synth plugs are capable of doing good basses too.

Simpler with a raw soundwave and the low pass filter on. Its just that...............Simple!! :P

Or just grab Operator, load a bass preset and tweak it till it fits the mood of the track.

crystal by www.greenoak.com, it's a synth capable of producing about any imaginable sound, in ueber superb audiophile quality, with the cost of being rather CPU hungry, but if your mashine is ok, dealing with it, then i can't recommend this beast highly enough for anyone making music.

it's FREE and it's avialable for PC and MAC / VST and AU

Sorry, no help with crystal, but I just found a killer bass synth that I have missed among all the other freebies....check out voyager, and then try to find some banks on the net. This thing can really kick out the bass.

Cheers,

hm... what do you mean???, it reacts like any other plug in live, you have to press the midi / record button, asign the chanels you wnat to use.. on the track where you inserted crystal... like in any other plug, and it should play!!!, are you mac? pc? vst? au? i have not used it in live yet, i use it a lot in logic, as au, but maybee there are some issues with live in the either VST or AU version, but it woul'd be starnge, as it is running in any other sequencer... no matter if PC or MAC and no matter if as VST or AU....

check your midi /Live settings first.

horses for courses i guess.

i'd been using a variety of free bass synths that comprised of free plugins. but until i got my hands on trilogy, it was just what i needed for my bass. uoi can choose from the array of electric, acoustic and synth bass, play your notes in true staccato style to add more realism, modulate na few paramaters and morph two bass sounds together.

other great feature i can think of.. low cpu useage, release noise layers on the acoustic and electric basses.velocity curves, great sounding filters etc etc.

anti-banausic - i did a google search form the one you mentioned but only came up with references to the classic moog voyager.. any in locating the said plugin ?
