Trick: Follow actions to mess up arrangement

Set up:

Some midi clips in a track, oned note in each like C3, D3, E3 etc and keeping them in a follow action group, set to "any" and one bar or whatever.
Route midi to a Midi Yoke channel that you set up as remote midi in (PC).
In arrangement: Creat as many locators as you have midi clips.
Assign the notes in the clips to locators.
Now, when firering the clips, they will trigger the locators.

More fun:
Duplicate the midi track but change the "Orig. BMP" of the clips in the second track. Thus clips will not be fired at the same time interval as in the first track.

Have more tracks in arrangement and let the locators trigger them - that is almost like follow action for "scenes".

Try different quantize settings etc.

I use these techniques for lighting and video. It really helps to randomize parameters within certain constraints.

I had to RTFM to figure this one out (I use Session view 99% of the time) thought I'd post for completeness.

Locators in the Arrange view can be assigned MIDI notes, use MIDI yoke or some such program to route MIDI out of clips in the Session mode back into Live, where they trigger locators.

Hello there.

I've tried to do this, but i'm extremely confused. I read the manual for the "assigning midi notes to locators" with no success... & i don't know s*** about Midi Yoke (althought it is installed on my PC).

I thought this would be helpful to also mess up with locators on audio clips... as i saw on a Telefon Tel Aviv video here in the Ableton website, where there was an audio clip that randomly changed it's play position.
