Pen Tool & Drums Sequencing

Post by Aldanor » Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:06 pm

It'd be convenient to use pen tool in, say, Impulse - if it won't set lengths of all notes to 1/16 by default. Is there a way to override this?

And, by the way, is there a way to make a kind of tweak somewhere so that the length of note does not impact the sound for drum machine (just triggers the required sample)? It could be handy.

not sure what you mean about your first question.

about your second question, assuming you'r talking about Impulse, you can set a pad to gate instead of trigger, and this will play the sample as it is regarless of the length of your note.

on other drum machines, this option may be available too, but if not, and an envelope is present, then setting 'decay' to max will do the same. if you're talking about a sampler, then in your sampler's looping options you should have a something like 'one shot'. setting your sample to this does the trick as well.

in answer to the first, when you use the pencil it sets the length of the note to the size of the grid. If you right click / control click inside the midi grid then you'll see all the options, just select the one you want and when you next draw the note will be of that length
