ive been told I can route impulse, but in my "midi from" drop box , on any given track, there is no impulse slot section, nothign about impulse at all. I have Live 5, is this a feature only in Live 6 ? or maybe do I have something set wrong ?

impulse will be on a midi track
the routed tracks need to be audio tracks

thats why its not working

hered how i have this set up : there is a midi track with impulse on it and a drumkit. next to it there is an audio track. at this point , what i am i supposed to do ? i clicck audio from and it says : EXT. In, 1 Midi, and Resampling. it says nothing about impulse and especially nothing about specific slots within impulse. I'mr eally lost here ...

"1 midi"

hmm.

I suggest you change the name of your track with Impulse on to "impulse on"

now look at where it used to say "1 midi"

choose what will now be called "impulse on" , a pulldown box will become available beneath that with the various drums. choose one.

choose 1 midi
then in the box under that choose your output

so your tracks look like this:

M1 / A2 / A3 / A4 / A5 / A6 / A7 / A8

m1 is your impulse
a2-a8 are your outputs from the 2nd to 8th slots
slot one plays on the midi track

select 1 midi as the input (assuming your impulse is on track 1)
then select one of the 8 impulse sounds from the menu below it
set monitoring to In and hit play
