help needed for midi control (akai mpd24) one small problem

after reading through various manauls i have got this far, after getting live to read my midi controller (led's flash when triggered) i have selected the midi tab in top right hand corner to highlight all controllable options in blue, the midi mappings box has appeared on the left of my screen, i had read that the only thing i have to do is to select the clip id like to activate, hold the pad id like to active the clip with and de-select the midi tab... nothing happens, any ideas would be appreciated thank you

in preferences, midi tab, are you sure you selected your controller as "on" in the "remote" column?
