Im trying to set up certain things in Ableton with my MPD24, just got it today. Im using Ableton's Midi Mapping for all the buttons. I need to know how to map out using buttons as a cursor, so I can highlight over clips, and also bring up their clip information. Along the same lines, I want to know how to map the zoom fucntion and sliding the waveform with the knobs so I can navigate through the song faster... I mean, its almost like Im trying to do away with the mouse

Hello All!
Just curious if you guys are digging this controller?? I'm thinking about purchasing one since the Akai interface is very natural for me, but it seems that set-up and re-tooling of set-up may be alittle cumbersome based on this posting.......

Hey guys,

Has anyone had luck with Live 5? I just purchased the MPD this afternoon and now I can't use it..
why would it be bundled with Live Lite and not be supported by Live right out of the box?
Any help is greatly appreciated 8O

I'm struggling with this instant mapping script. the automapping thing is not working. If i select BCR preset instead the sliders ad knobs control rack macros but in a weird order.. with the mpd script i tweaked, knobs don't work.. can someone take a look at the script to see if Im missing something?

# Config File for User-defined Instant Mappings

# We assume that the controls on your MIDI controller
# send CCs. All controls, except the sliders for volume
# and the encoders for device parameters, are expected
# to use the global channel. CCs are counted from 0-127
# and channels from 0-15.

[Globals]
# The channel that the controller should send on
GlobalChannel: 0
# If your controller is connected via USB, replace ControllerName
# with the name of the respective port. Live will then try to
# recognize the ports for you when you select your Instant-Mappings
InputName: USB Audio Device
OutputName: USB Audio Device

[DeviceControls]
# The Encoders will control the device parameters (you can also
# use knobs or sliders). Replace the -1's with the CCs sent by
# the respective controls on your controller. You can also set
# the channel for each controller if it differs from the global
# channel (if you leave the channel of an encoder at -1, Live
# will assume that the encoder uses the global channel).

quick question that i've been wondering on this - what's the advantage of using a ready made map for ableton as supposed to creating your own?

13 Undo
14 Move Up
15 Redo
16 Play selected Scene
hey i was wondering how you map the move up, down, left, and play selected scene.

like, once the mpd is all set up, and i hit midi map, what do i click before assigning a pad?

just wanted to mention i had some probs setting this up, until i read this post:

http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=

in the latest version of live 6, the user scripts directory has moved into the libraries preference files so the new script and directory has to go there.

cheers

i´m not using the midimap-function, you will have to select a bcr and a mackie as a controlsurvace in your preferences in live and set the midi in and output of both to usb-audiodevice2 in my case.(meaning the second in and out of the mpd24).
The only thing i assing using midimap is the f6 for masterlevel as i didn´t manage to automap this one.
Have fun,

well i actiually got ableton to recognize the mpd24 and whenever i assign a pad it sets it as a "note" command and now when ever i hit a pad ableton plays a piano note and the assigned midi function, any way to fix this?
