Double clicking a marker immediately starts the (stopped) song from that marker.

Re: Stuff in Live you wish you figured out a long time ago
i got one:
for a long time i've been running reaktor inside live without being able to type any numbers or text into reaktor. in order to edit a patch i always had to open it in standalone mode.
someone just clued me in to this fix:
you have to create a txt file named options.txt in which you just write "-_EnsureKeyMessagesForPlugins"
and then you put it in the preferences folder of live
* OS 9: .../Preferences/Ableton/Live [version]/Options.txt
* OS X: .../Preferences/Ableton/Live [version]/Options.txt
* Win: ...\Program Files\Ableton\Live [version]\Preferences\Options.txt
* Win Live 5: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Ableton\Live [version]\Preferences\Options.txt
fwiw, my preferences folder was here:
Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Ableton\Live 7.0.10\Preferences
hope that helps someone else!

Wow! That's a great one. Where did you find out about this? Or more, where can I read more about how that can be used?
Re: Stuff in Live you wish you figured out a long time ago
i saw it in a troubleshooting thread in the NI forum. i searched google for ableton live options.txt and found a few more, but they didn't seem as useful. i noticed there's another thread on here asking for a compiled list of useful commands for this, hopefully someone has one.TroyP wrote:Wow! It took me some time (and a lot of midi recording) before I found out that I can just drag and drop clips from session view to arrangement view...

Hehe, that must have been a revelation lol.Motoko wrote:It took me some time (and a lot of midi recording) before I found out that I can just drag and drop clips from session view to arrangement view...
Those pesky things called manuals... who needs'em?
Re: Stuff in Live you wish you figured out a long time ago
Yeah, but it happens even if you read manuals. I've gone through the Live manual a couple times. Once, when I first bought Live 6, and again when I got Live 7.djgroovy wrote:...Hehe, that must have been a revelation lol. Those pesky things called manuals... who needs'em?
I'm still learning stuff. Usually things I didn't catch or care about yet at the time I read the manual.
So, keep posting everyone! This is still my favorite thread.

It's just that getting clips from session to arrangement was the very first thing i looked up in the manual, couldn't get by without it.
That's what i meant with my post.

Here's my favorite trick on that, learned from here.djgroovy wrote:No kidding, i love this thread too and learn new things everyday.

Instead of dragging (too hard hitting that icon just right), click and hold the clip...then press tab! Works the same way with consolidated clips from Arrangement to Session.
