load ram or not load ram

I have a gig of ram. Should I be loading everything into ram in ableton 3 or is this not going to make a difference. I've never really noticed a difference in performance. or maybe I should just be loading really long files into ram and not the small ones?
the only time I've ever noticed it doing anything is if I'm using legato and or continuously selecting different small portions of a loop.

If you're on a laptop and you're running on batteries it is a fantastic way to conserve battery power.

Hard disk activity and the screen backlight appear to be the biggest consumers of battery energy.

I have a Dell5150 (Pentium 4, 3GHz), 1 Gb of RAM + Echo Indigo DJ
