I have a korg padkontrol.
I want to record about 6 samples for each of the pads
Like pad one
"ARF" "YO" "WORD" "UH-HUH" "BISCUIT" "NAW DAWG"
Then I want to be able to hit that pad and trigger one of those samples based on the velocity range of the note I have hit like this:
Hard hit: (midi value 110-127) "ARF" Medium hit (value 69-80) "UH-HUH" Soft Hit (value 1-20) "NAW DAWG" Etc.
I use ableton live and do not know how to do this currently. Some people have told me to use a sampler, but that was all they knew. If a software sampler is the way to go, what is one that would be easy to use in this way?
Padkontrol: velocity in live or sampler?
You can do this in Live 6 with 6 simplers in a rack.
A rack has a button called "Vel". It lets you set up velocity zones for chains.
Make an instrument rack with 6 chains (each containing a Simpler) and set up the velocity response range for the zones.
This may sound like gibbersh, but its pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
If the "chain" and "key" button are throwing you off... Don't give up. "Key" does the same as "Vel", but you select note ranges instead of velocity.
Chain is a tad more complex, but i've written a few articles on the subject which can be found at http://www.thecovertoperators.org/archi ... egory/tnt/
