Random drum volume changes?

Post by octo » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:02 pm

How do get Simpler or Imoulse to play my snares at a slightly different level every now and then? To make it sound more natural.

Hope you guys can answer this. Thanks...

look up "clip envelopes" in the manual

automate the volume of the clip envelope of your midi-clip which is driving
your impulse or simpler.

unlink clip envelope and clip

use a length for the clip envelope which is different from the midi-clip
(for random effect, the length shouldn t be like 4 and 8 bars, but something
which doesn t correlate, like 8 and 3 for example)

for even more randomness, you could automate track volume, volume of
impulse and volume of single drum sounds independently, perhaps all with
different clip envelope length...

play around with it, there are way more possibilities

the velocity midi effect might also be a good tool here. lots of randomize options.

There is a setting for randomness for velocity/volume in the impulse itself. You can also have a bit of randomness on the pitch.
