it's a bit janky, and kinda specific, but it works.
if you're looping stuff in the arranger view (so that all the loops on a track are connected) you can rename the clip in the parameters section with whatever notes you need to take. it seems to hold an unlimited number of characters. you need to be carefull not to use more characters than you arranger view window can hold (if you don't understand, try typing in a really long scentance in the clip name and see what i mean).
if you're not using looped clips, or you don't want to rename a clip, you can insert a silent clip and use that for note taking. that may use to much cpu and drive bandwidth just for some notes, but you can do it.

i found a way to take notes in live! (kinda)

nice tip dirty! i'm messing with this now. for those unlooped clips where you can't fit any words i'm creating another track, with a silent clip looped like you said. make it the same color as the track it goes with and put it under, minimized so it's right under the waveform of the corresponding clip. working well and doesn't seem to be eating any CPU.
makes sense to my eyes. i'm psyched!
