Hi,
I have been using Ableton 6 for a while now at home on my PC but now I wan't to go out and play a live set along with some other musicians. I reckon I will set up Ableton on a laptop and take that to gigs. As someone who has not done that before I could do with some advice on how to connect the laptop up to the PA. Is it a simple matter of going from the headphone socket??
Any advice much appreciated.

it pretty much is that simple - depends on whether you need a second channel for cueing things, in which case you'll need an external soundcard of some sort.
Hp Elitebook 2.8Ghz. Live 7.0.14 & Live 8.1.5, XP Pro. and stuff...

it's definetly more then doable through the headphone jack.... get yourself the asio4all and set it up to work with the card.... most lap tops these days use nice sound cards which are capable of 24 bit @ 96 khz and I noticed at 96khz my delay is at arround 6ms..
