Browser shortcuts and functionality

Is there some way to flick between browser 1,2 and 3 / live device browser etc. when the browser is closed?
I noticed that when the browser is closed its still possible to shift focus to it ("ALT"+"<-").
There must be a reason for this.
Does anyone know how to do something with the browser when closed, maybe using keyboard keys to open/close or nav between browsers?
Any tricks?
