Using effects with send/return problem

Post by Toufas » Sun Sep 09, 2007 5:17 pm

if you have an effect on the first send lets say a ping pong delay, and you send the audio there, you will hear the sound "amplified"
because its played twice from where the sound is coming from, and one more time from the return rack.
is there a way to avoid this? because if i have the effect on the rack itself, and save my work, the on/off of the effect is not saved at all.

Have the wet/dry level of the effect on the return channel set to 100% wet. This way you can blend the effected signal from the return channel with the dry signal from the source channel, thus avoiding the increase in level.

You can also set your sends to either be pre- or post-fader, meaning that the amount you send via the "send" button will either be independent, or come after, the volume knob on that audio track. Just turn down the volume knob on the audio track, and leave the return level as is, and you'll get only the delayed signal.

You can even set an audio track to "send only", which means you get no dry signal (from that track) at all.
