Drums, Velocity, MIDI - General advice needed

Post by eggnchips » Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:45 pm

Why do drum sounds not respond to velocity when I move the little sticks in the Midi section?
I'm trying to get my drums to sound more natural/soft. They just seem to sound fake and rigid when I program them in the Midi page.

the velocity sticks will respond you need to move them quite a long way for an exaggerated effect.

But to be honest for velocity variation and groove you can't beat programming your drums live using a pad midi controller.

Make sure the instrument you are using for drums is set to respond to velocity. With dum racks, you need to look at the individual simplers. By default the velocity parameter is set to 0 for some reason, turn this up. You can use right click- copy to siblings to set the same value for all other simplers in the rack.

Thanks,
Turning on the velocity on the Simplers did the trick. And yes the Drums sound much better.
