File Management for Collaboration in Ableton Live

Post by Bombastic » Sat Apr 26, 2008 7:51 am

hi, im about to do a collaboration with someone in the USA (im in London), and I want to share my ableton files with this person (he also has ableton). I was wondering if anyone here could give me tips on the best way to do this.. especially the issue of different VST´s, ffor example, if I have my Korg VST and he doesnt, what sort of potential problems would there be..

any help by anyone would be greatly appreciated!

Freeze all the vst tracks, collect and save into an empty project, and everything should work.

In addition too chapelier fou's advice, you might also consider packing the set as a Live Ppack, which according to Abes (aint tried it me) provides high compression ratio and quality

Collect all and save, and then create live pack - works nicely.

Yeah, watch out for missing VSTs - they'll just be missing for the other person. So for any tracks where the VST is essential, might be a good idea to freeze and flatten before creating live pack.

Edit: what the other two said :D
