One of the first things Jobs did when he rejoined Apple was kill off a bunch of products (something like 70% - 90%?). There were too many options and it was too confusing. Seems like Cook is looking to undo all that
Truth.

do any of you guys know a good benchmark comparison site that will allow you to compare any macbook to another cause on most of the comparison charts I see my macbook is not listed, apparently 4 year old macbook airs are not worth mentioning anymore but I'd like to compare benchmarks with what's out now?

I'm obviously mistaken but it doesn't look like too much difference between my 2011macbook air and the early 2015 macbook air.. what am I missing?

That's the case more than you would think. My 2012 Retina Macbook Pro stacks up against the latest ones pretty well too.
Chips haven't improved that much in recent years, and Apple has made choices based on other things besides pure CPU power...

it's looking more and more like I'm going the route of the 13rmbp, but the thing I'm afraid of is this, if they made such a big deal about shrinking everything and putting it all inside the 2 pound 'new macbook', aren't they just going to comeback next year and take the very 13rmbp I get today and shrink it down and put it in a macbook air? :x

The answer is easy, wait until next year.

I waited 5+ years before getting my retina Macbook Pro and it's a HUGE difference. You can wait, freeze flatten etc. 8)
