one more, Big Ravine run...that glowing patch in the valley is Whitefish Lake, with the town of WF surrounding...and, that smaller glowing spot above is Lost Coon Lake, where you will find simmer's humble abode...

there's nothing like alaska
Alyeska had a little tram mishap on new years eve, 45 MPH gusts which are not unusual at all. This tram often runs in higher winds then that!

I spent a decade in AK I've done some heli skiing and a bit of hiking but when will you you guys learn, two boards are faster then one? I loved it when first tram is full of snowboards, I'd get three runs on chair 6 before the second tram arrived. Walk out of the back of the tram and still grab first chair.. works for me.
Now that I'm forty my body doesn't work so well because of all that playing, so now I carve turns on the pavement, draggin' my center stand.

speed is one thing, but who can say who is having more fun? if you were racing (and cursing) others all the time i daresay you were missing the point!

well, since my tracks were there first, and that line was pristine..

i don't do it for anyone but me. i'm just glad when i pull off a good run. how fast i do it is of little concern. in fact, it's the least of my concerns. i prefer to carve and shred the mountain as long as possible rather than as fast as possible, but we all have our different reasons for enjoying the glide across the powder.

i find untracked days after the storm, but i also dont mind crazy-tight tree lines to find 5 good turns, then a long traverse out, or even a walk/swim across some flat
forget shawn white, travis rice is the man....any of you netfickers have to see The Art of Flight, current state of the best of backcountry freestyle, much of it shot in AK and BC
