To me Deep House is Smooth Jazz with a House drum loop slapped over it. I used to really really like this genre but from the DJs I've heard spinning it of late it's become this "why bother, here's a monotonous bass line with a sampled sax melody over it" watered down genre. No offense to Rave cause he writes some really good stuff.

But beyond just Deep House I think all once great dance genres have devolved to minimal half assed efforts of what they used to be which is probably the result of everybody suddenly picking up Electronica music production. It's evolution in reverse.
