snow snow snow

Post by mikemc » Thu Feb 11, 2010 1:51 pm

In Maryland/Mid-Atlantic US (halfway down the eastern seaboard of the US, that is, not in the middle of the Atlantic a'la iceland).

My goodness gracious heavens to betsy we've got a whole lot of snow. We had a lot of snow, then got another lot of snow, and now it is a whole lot. Plus it is cold and winds are higher, so it has drifted across major highways, closing some.

This area is not like places that are used to getting a lot of snow, not like Toronto area for example, where there are fleets of snowplows available. I just hope it melts slowly or we'll have floods as well.

[edit] on the plus side, my work is closed, so there is time for music! :)

if you're not used to having this amount of snow I suggest you go walking around the city and enjoy how quiet everything is. The snow dampens reverberation on buildings and such, makes the city nice and quiet. It's one of the things I love the most about winter in Montreal (because there are a lot of things to hate too).

damn, the closest snow falls here is like an hour away, you can see the mountains driving around and they look awesome, covered in snow. Sad i cant drive my car up there, expensive and low profile tires equals bad in snow. Ive had a horrible experience in the snow 2 years back, got stuck and a cop had to hit the rear of my benz to get me out...i cried.

i like the silence, i dislike the icy slopes everywhere. but its a cool excuse for wearing crappy sports pants, down parkas, boots and silly hats.
