What is your "secret weapon" softsynth...

We are (mostly) all gearsluts here and own more softsynths than we need or even could use...but post here about that ONE synth that you feel generally doesn't get a lot of attention or respect or whatever, that nonetheless you find yourself going to again and again -- your secret weapon synth that few people would suspect you use so much...

For me, it's the emulation of the KORG Mono/Poly from the KLC: analog. The original hardware was considered "late to the game" for having weak modulation options (four oscillators but only one filter, through which all four oscs pass in sum)and a weak faux-polyphony mode (no longer an issue in digital-emulation land), but this thing is, for my purposes, a monster! Four oscillators create beefy-ass sounds, plus the classic onboard korg effects to fill out the sound further. Just the presets are surprisingly huge and inspiring, and programming it is dead-on easy. I use this thing (multiple instances) in pretty much every track i do for my industrial project, both for fat EBM-style basses, but also for arp'd leads, glitchy futuristic sound effects, and even thick spacey pads...

at this point I don't know what I'd do without it.

Alchemy.

Hitting that goddamn random button is the highlight of my day. It's like the sonic lottery. You'll get some losers. You'll get some winners. Every now and then you'll get a JACKPOT.

Love that softsynth. In fact, it's all I use now.

Still these ''whats the best shit you use?'' threads leave me feeling cold when you make posts about half-price offers on such instruments and the same people don't give a flying fuck =)

When someone needs to be spoon-fed the fact that something sounds especially dope, they don't deserve to be told in the first place IMO

Arturia V collection

I do like Collision but noticed some aliasing in the tail end of notes
which is a bit disappointing. This was noticeable on a number of presets and
adjustment settings. Would be interested if anyone else has noticed this
or whether its an OT

Reaktor Spark - paid ensemble by Stephan Schmitt.....incredible array of sounds for two Oscillators.

Whatever grabs my fancy from my massive collection of vst synths. I love Zebra and Arturia's synths, the latter often requiring rendering/freeze/flatten as they can be CPU intensive but nothing emulates that vintage gear as well, IMHO.

I have always loved the Korg Legacy plugins, I own the digital version and cry at having to sell my Wavestation when I emigrated from the UK to Canada. The effects section is also quite useable.

ACE is surprisingly good sounding for a cheap synth. It's reminds me a bit of using Subtractor in Reason, but actually sounding good !!

Operator as mentioned before is one of the highlights of owning the Live Suite, you want FM type sounds especially, it's a go to synth.
