Sorry if I derailed this thread into video... Just bought a Canon HV40 video camera which I'm very happy with because it shoots 1080 25/30p. There's a very good user forum (hv20.com) for this camera and the advantages of shooting video with DSLR and 35mm-type lenses for that movie-like control over depth-of-field has got people very excited.

hmmm, interesting about the Canon DV, does that need some kind of DOF adaptor to take 35mm lenses?

I've been looking at getting the E0S 500d (I think this is also called the rebel Ti ?), mainly because of that dual use of nice pictures and shooting shallow DOF video.
Of course it's worth mentioning to anyone considering the EOS that the 1080p video is only at 20fps, it shoots 720 at 30fps. I'd only ever use the video on that EOS as a secondary function, as I already part-own a Sony FX1 for video.

yeah you'd need a DOF adapter

aaahhhh... I was not aware of that, Garth. Perhaps 1080p and undercranked silent-movie action is the next big thing..
