Re: Why Americans don't like European football
Is this a competition ?
I have visited most of the big cities in France and have watched soccer games at Montpellier, Toulouse, St.Etienne, Lille, Paris St. Germain, Lyon, Bordeaux, Lens, Strasbourg and Metz. I also travelled to watch Leeds play AS Monaco in the UEFA cup in 1995 and PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadium.
I also did the stereotypical British day trip to France thing and did the Calais hypermarket duty free run

PSV Eindhoven I will forgive you. Consider that as a sin.

The only consolation from that trip was chanting 'Ajax, Ajax' drove the Eindhoven supporters crazy, but it was desperate trolling as we lost out.
The trip to Monaco was much nicer and a better result, we won 3-0.
Nowadays our trips are to Swindon and Carlisle ... Being in Canada these days I only see it from afar, but it ain't pretty

You guys are KILLING me.
The only reason the Russians were able to get their heads out of their own arses and actual cross into Germany was because.....um......lemme think....
Oh yeah. Because the US utterly and totally destroyed Germany's ability to make war. Oh and we also had them fighting on numerous fronts. And we'd cut off their entire supply of oil. Something like that.
The Red army as it was called back then was the largest, most experienced, most advanced fighting force on the planet at the time. American troops were surprised at how technologically well equipped they were when they met in Berlin.
After Berlin fell the USA had planned to ask the red army for assistance in beating the Japanese in the pacific. But instead America chose the easy way out (Atomic weapons) instead of losing more troops fighting the Japanese.
As for "Who saved Europe?" you can of course say that if America hadn't set foot in Europe we could all very well be speaking Russian now but on the subject of "Who defeated Nazi Germany?", the answer is most definitely the U.S.S.R.
Ask any competent historian, watch any documentary about WW2, read up on Wikipedia where you'll find a shit load of information about every aspect of WW2 in particular the war on the eastern front which made the invasion of Normandy look like a trip to Disneyland..

where did this chart originate ?
I would like to see the basis for those numbers, which do not seem very accurate at first glance.

Weren't they having to pick up rifles off the ground from the waves of their comrades that died in front of them because there weren't enough to go round?David Glynn wrote:The Red army as it was called back then was the largest, most experienced, most advanced fighting force on the planet at the time. FWIW I'm not joking or taking the piss... bashing etc. I'm asking.
