Hmm, not a lot of big Messe announcements, butthis might be good as a semi-portable interface. Would have to hear how it sounds first :D

Will work only with UC, none of other (due to new hardware, impossible with old models). After disappointing 1 day of the Messe this baby made my day. It is absolutely what I always wanted to have, mobile as small as it gets, but when you need , can connect audio in/out, when need more ADAT. The new TotalMix is fantastic. The whole thing is so smart, will really force the competitors to work very hard. At the price, 599€ it will be hit.

Seems rather expensive for what it is. For 200 € more you can get a Fireface 400.

I just wish RME would sort out their Snow Leopard drivers, all this talk about how good their drivers are is rubbish.....

Their drivers are great on PC and WERE great on OSX Leopard.

Early adopters gotta pay a price ... they'll get there eventually.

Great unit. Still could have been 100-150 cheaper for what it is (or appears to be - an RME version of the Apogee Duet but with their new totalmix system and some extra DSP fx). For home laptop recording it's a nice deal.

I do hate all that 10 input channels malarky though - all audio interface manufacturers do this - it has 2 IO with an additional 8 channels of OPTIONAL ADAT (from a seperate ADAT unit at extra cost).

It's a good idea, but I still think they would have been better doing a 2XLR, 2 line level input with 2 seperate stereo outs cut down Fireface 400/UC and selling it at around 799.

Probably a stupid pet peeve but I don't like the way they picture this and the Duet without the ugly ass but essential breakout cable which takes away from the compact and sleek design and without it all you have is a stupid expensive headphone pre-amp. I don't know why they can't at least put in a stereo out separate from the headphones out for monitors that isn't just part of the box itself. If you need more options than use the breakout cable. There's other similarly small but lesser quality interfaces that have these basics just built into the box.

True dat. No-one likes to see break out cables, but the unit doesn't function without them ...
