I don't know what math you are using but the iPhones range from $100-$300 so for the 4 you're talking $400 - $1,200. I doubt the stand costs $800 - $1,200. And like it or not there's a cash/entertainment value to this type thing if you market yourself and that's what you are hoping to achieve. Apple might even pay you to go into their stores and do this. If Beardyman did the same thing it would probably be hyped as pure genius by many.
