Forums are nearly a perfect sampling of the basic shapes/colors/attitudes of all modern peoples. It would be a shame (and it would also be my ultimate dream come true) if all people acted and behaved/reacted with a standardized form of courtesy and common sense. If there was a place where everyone responded with dignity you would also find a dictator ruling with an iron fist.

Tone may have a harsh "tone" lol .. but at the core, I agree with what he's saying.you think only experts can answer questions? that's so freaking wrong. man up and start answering questions, so what if you're wrong, that's a GREAT way to learn. I do it all the time, there's no clearer way to know what you REALLY do and don't know.
Instead of lurking and just asking 1 question/month out of fearfulness.
Try answering 3 questions to every 1 you ask.
You don't have to be an expert, just give your opinion .. and don't get your ego wrapped up in your answer.
You might just learn something. You might amaze yourself, you might amaze others.
Have some nuts :-}

Man up buttercup.

A moderator you mean? Not too uncommon in my experience.tadpole fingers wrote:If there was a place where everyone responded with dignity you would also find a dictator ruling with an iron fist.
Those you consider "standarized" usually have a lot of interesting sides to them that dont necessarily show in these kind of forums. Perhaps more than a few highly respected but shy DJs or musicians have wandered through these corridors without anyone noticing.
And whats all this talk about manning up and getting certain male parts and whatnot? Are there really that many manly men here on the Ableton forums? Never could have guessed.
Anyhow, I appreciate differing shapes/colors/attitudes, believe me, but thats an even bigger reason for being tolerant of those who obviously stand alone in threads like this. Who are the "different" ones I wonder.

Stick around, sometimes you will get answers (not always correct), sometimes you wont.
But there are worse things than getting an undeserved RTFM.
like people asking questions when they obviously haven't looked in the manual and people that take other peoples help for granted and don't even bother to say thanks - even when you point them to the exact page and paragraph number in the manual.

The more protection you get the less freedom you have, so here you have a lot of freedom, this means no protection. You basically get to talk with the grown ups at the bar here, they can get too drunk and act like assholes, but they aren't out to hurt you, just to have a good time. The kids have to stay at home, it's too bad, but hey, their neediness and lack of backbone can be annoying sometimes you know?
Like Tone and others have said, YOU make this place, contribute and ignore the posts that annoy you.
You might be surprised that the very same poster in some other thread says something funny or that opens up a whole new area of Live for you. This isn't an official help forum, nobody is paid, and it didn't come as a benefit to your license to Live, so STFU, RTFM, and contribute, or GTFO and see an OBGYN about your 'problem'.

How many "grown ups" do you meet in bars?davepermen wrote:the thing about grown ups, though...
Definitely didn't mean a nice yuppie bar where you can talk about yachts and golf, but the local stumbling bar where there's that one guy that always annoys you with stupid jokes about boobs etc. but the other day he said something funny, and the bartender lets you back in after the other night and all the shit you caused.

People can be total dicks on this forum. You are right in thinking that it's just a few though. I think its an internet thing. I imagine most of these people wouldn't act that way in person but because they can hide behind a screen name they feel they can be as rude and ignorant as they like. Cheer up people!
