iPad
Re: iPad
Sounds like Apple is handling the television industry like they handled the music industry with “mp3 is already out there. Either you can lose a massive bulk of your revenue to piracy or you can go with our digital purchase option.” With television they’re going “People are ditching cable in droves in favor of streaming content. You can lose all that revenue or you can go with our hardware and software that would also lock them into a contract with you.” Well played.

I get odd looks from my GF all the time for this. I guess she assumes I hate must the site I'm on .Tarekith wrote:Shake your iPad.
No seriously.
Alternative : pair a Bluetooth keyboard and undo like an adult

I’ve done that and ergonomically it’s a lot better but it just feels less magical.
On a related note since I installed Mountain Lion on my iMac I’ve been texting iPhones from my Mac.

If you are using an iPad for business it probably makes sense to get some kind of hardware keyboard for it, but if you are just using it when loafing around the house I’m usually in a position (bed/chair/couch) where a hardware keyboard dongle would just be awkward. But I never really got all loungey with a laptop either.
Re: iPad
it's all i good. i can shake it. there's typically no one around to glare inquisitively at me when i use it... i'm usually on my balcony when i do. for anything that matters in a substantial way there's my laptop anyhow... or my iMac.

If you want to see immediate problems with iCloud turn on Messages on all your idevices and Mountain Lion Macs. There’s absolutely no consistency on which you’ll receive messages on. Sometimes it will be on all of them, other times some of them, other times just whichever you just sent a message from. FFS.

i just read an article about how much money MS lost on the RT that made think of this thread/post...nathannn wrote:Yeah, I still wouldn't want it. Most people wont buy that since you can buy an ipad2, ipad mini or a used ipad 3 for around the same price.beats me wrote:Microsoft lowered the price of the Surface RT by $150. The only time manufactures have done that in the past is when the device is DOA and I don’t think I’ve heard of any case where lowering the price has made the device more successful beyond the first week or 2 of “wow, a lower price!” impulse purchases.
I tried a surface at best buy, there was no way to adjust the viewing angle when using the keyboard, any little movement would make the screen fall over. Really bad design.
i replied regarding the Surface which is a decent machine... the Surface RT however is a borderline useless POS.
sorry that i missed that. big difference. the RT is just an iPad/Android tablet wannabe... the full blown Surface touts advantages that neither of those two have. the RT is some little brother in diapers trying to play with its much more grown up siblings... basically a drag. Microsoft should have known better. the RT is so far off my relevancy radar that i didn't catch it when i read your posts beats. it might as well be a Vtech My First Tablet and given to per-schoolers who want to play grown up.

$900,000,000
and counting.
FFS.

Speaking of spare change, I read an article the other day about Samsung paying Apple the $1B they lost in the US lawsuit by sending like 30 buses to the Apple campus with bags of coins.
But I saw no mention of that anywhere else so I had to conclude the article was fake.
