Re: iPad
I needed to get ink for my printer but then noticed for less than $20 more I could a new better printer. I then realized I’ll drop $800+ on a new iPhone every 2 years without hesitation but have serious reservations doing the same with a $70 printer. Perspective. New printer arrives today.
Re: iPad
Ordered Airpods in an impulsive right time, right place moment. Macrumors posted early this morning that they are for sale after the long delay, no real advance notice from Apple. Mine will be arriving next Wed. Shortly after I ordered shipping times slipped to 4 weeks out.
Re: iPad
Ordered the Airpods using the Apple Store app on my iPhone and Apple Pay. It defaulted to shipping to my work. Good. That’s what I wanted. After placing the order I noticed it set my work address as the billing address too. WTF? That’s not what is setup for my card registered to Apple Pay. It’s also the only option you can’t edit after an order is placed. You need to call Apple to do that. Tried a couple different times and got “extremely high caller volume.”
This better not be an issue and Apple’s system can sort it out before they just stall be because of billing address issues.

Ironically its being reported that if you add these straps and shake your head a lot the AirPods will come out of your ears. The same amount of head shaking without the straps and they will stay in.
Can't believe there were actually lines at Apple stores for these and availability is being pushed into February.
Re: iPad
The AirPods are pretty sweet. I’m actually more concerned about losing the charging case than the Airpods. It’s been compared to a dental floss box but it’s actually smaller than that. Maybe travel sized (as if a normal dental floss box is too unwieldy for travel).
One cool feature if you have an Apple Watch and the AirPods are synced to it and make or receive a call it will work like a normal Bluetooth headset instead of talking into the Watch like you are Dick Tracy. You can sync 1 playlist to the Apple Watch for listening without your iPhone on you so there is a scenario when you would be listening to the AirPods without the iPhone.

Re: iPad
Bumping my iMac from 8 GB of RAM to 32 GB, third party chips for a little over $150. If you had Apple configure it that way it would cost $400.

Korg Gadget will be coming to Mac OS.
It will also have a package of plug-in versions of the gadget devices for use in other DAWs.

Link blocked at work, but your brief description sounds cool. Is there any kind of cross platform pricing?yur2die4 wrote:http://discchord.com/appnews/2017/01/12 ... g-to-macos

Alchemy is now in GarageBand.
Re: iPad
I got a 12.9" iPad.
Really like it so far and it seems all my usual apps scale nicely on it. Also the on screen keyboard shows more characters so you aren't tabbing through keyboards as much. On the music side you see more tracks on the screen on Gadget and Garageband.
But now the gold standard 9.7" iPad feels like the odd man out. IMO reading tasks are better served on the iPad Mini for both weight and amount of text on screen reasons. Beefier tasks now seem better on the 12.9.

Re: iPad
iPhone started acting bricked, but only when not plugged into wall power. So I went to Verizon's store.
Rep checked it for about 3 seconds: "looks like you might need to buy a new iphone. I don't have any cheap ones at the moment..."
It dawned on me, I just had a new battery installed 5 months ago. So I went back to that hole-in-the-wall cell phone customizing joint. "Do you have a warranty on batteries? This one is acting weird..."
The warranty expired, but they put in another battery for $10. iPhone is back to normal. Well, slightly retarded, still nags for an appleID what-have-you. As before.
