There is always some chicken little in this sort of thinking, and people have been going on about population crises since the 1960s. [edit] The colonizing/settling of the Americas was done for a number of reasons, but what most people don't count among them is a fair amount of contamination of the water supply of Europe, and the prevalance of disease there.
