How about listing Plug's you use:

Post by ChiDJ » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:11 pm

Like Beats, I have gone through too many to mention. I thought a list of current used plugs may be more beneficial. If you disagree, Fuck off!

Omnisphere
Trillian
Stylus RMX
MOTU Mach V
MOTU Nanosampler
MOTU Symphonic
Poco - Virus Plug
Poco - Roland SH-101
WAVES Vox Comp
WAVES Ren Comp
WAVES L3
UAD 1176
Stock MOTU plugs for Pre-amp, EQ, Verb, Delay, flange, chorus, sidechaining
Stock LIVE plugs for Compression, Auto Filter, Verb, Distortion, delay

*Notice I have, but don't use any fancy EQ's or verbs, (I have Altiverb with tons of IR's, but it doesn't seem to add anything significant to my style )
**I also have an extensive Hardware synth collection that is always used.

I think these type lists would be more interesting for both the poster and the reader if total cash value was included.

Only hardware I got is an FMR Really nice compressor and and an old Alesis Quadraverb, plus a Zoom guitar FX and few Boss pedals.
*edit Edirol PCR-80 midi controller and a cheap as chips Casio CTK541 (which does have MIDI out, so not totally useless)*

Software - this can become a bit of a pissing competition, but here goes

Synths : Korg Legacy Digital, Zebra 2.5, ACE, Arturia - JP8V, Prophet V, Analog Factory, Minimoog 2.0, Massive, FM8, B4II, Absynth, Kontakt, Alchemy Player, Kore Player, XILS-LE, Symptohm Melohman PE, Greenoak Crystal plus the Suite instruments.

Compressors - Sonalksis SV315mkII, Jeroen Breebart PC2 and Red Phatt Pro, DDMF NY Compressor, Cytomic The Glue,PSP Mastercomp, Variety Of SOund (Bootsy) Density MKII, Stillwell Audio The Rocket. blockfish, Dominion, Spitfish.

EQs - Sonalksis SV517mkII, RN DIgital Uniquelizer 2.0, DDMF LP10 and Colour EQ.

Modulation FX - Audio Damage Fluid and Liquid, Smartelectronix Supaphaser, D16 Fazortan, Kjaerhus Classic Flanger/Chorus/Phaser

Amp Sim - Guitar Rig 2 and 4. Steinberg Warp VST (old but still has it's uses).

Reverbs - use DAW reverbs mostly (Cubase 5 has a great convolution reverb), otherwise Omniverb, Glaceverb, WaveArts Reverb, D16 Toraverb. I will also add in Audio Damage Dubstation here, although it's more of a delay/echo.

Bass - Dan Dean samples as $20 audiomidi.com no brainer since I had to sell my Yamaha BB4nII Jazz bass for food

I also forgot the Wavearts Trackplug 5 Channel strip (awesome), Crysonic New BV2 Bass processor and Spectralive NXT.

Roland JD990
NORD 2 Rack
Mopho
EMAXX II
Korg Micro Korg, OG
Novation Bass station (2)
Privia 7 octave weighted keyboard

These are what I use. I've got a pile O' gear in the back room that I just can't part with but never use.

Omnisphere, Zebra2, uTonic, Synplant, and I just picked up the free NI Players and Planet Earth for Alchemy. For some reason I'm really not digging the Alchemy player though, doesn't sound as good as my other options by a long shot. Also have the Suite instruments.

Hardware wise I have an Anniversary Edition Machinedrum-UW MKII, and a TI2 Polar. Been debating trading the Polar for a desktop TI2 + cash though...

Alchemy Player mostly relies on the sound content as does any free sample content player such as Kore, Kontakt or whatever, it doesn't really have a 'sound' of it's own per se.

The Planet Earth pack and bundled factory sounds with Alchemy Player are actually good for free/low cost IMHO. There's a reason why Omnisphere costs upwards of $500 ;) I was impressed for my $5.86 donation anyway :)
