Pro16 for the Commodore 64 was my first MIDI sequencer and I used it for 2 years before jumping to Atari ST and Pro 24, then Cubase.

You know me too well, I was just being one of those annoying people who have to have the last word and 'one up' whatever the last person wrote (just for a change, heh heh  )

But seriously, the Atari XL and Pro 16 on the Commodore 64 were my starting points ...

The X-15 is a pretty late model portastudio. The X15 is a very stripped down and cheap portastudio though. I had an X-26 which was quite deluxe in comparison.

Try a Tascam 144 (original) portastudio, which is the first one I ever used, albeit at a later date than release, because it was what my high school owned and would let me and my buddy borrow.

We also had a Yamaha MT1X not long after, because the 144 got stolen (3 times) as the music room was consistently broken into by druggies and ne'er do wells about once a month (the fact we took the 144 homemost weekends meant it only got stolen and replaced a couple of times, as opposed to about 14 times in a year for most of the amps and instruments, one reason the music teacher was glad we used to borrow it on weekends, when most of the break-ins happened).
