Here's mine:auto-lock wrote:Hello I would appreciate if some one would help me. I'm very new at this...
I would like to make music with guitar, drum machine, keyboard, voice by using my computer (Macintosh).
what i know i want is Ableton Live 5, AKAI MPD24, Korg K61
All i already have is my trusty Acoustic guitar(with electronics) and my powerbook. so can some one help me with what else i need ?
like i list so i can continue shopping ?
my budget is in the range of 5-6K 7 Max cause I'm still new i don't want to spend too much on something I'm just playing with. but i would really like to get quality hardware.
Thanks in advanced!

Thank you very much for posting that thread. It was a very interesting read and served as a good 'pick-me-up'.
wtf. I think I was tired or something,..What does sharing Live Sets cost?
During beta stage, sharing Live Sets is completely free for everyone. What happens afterwards depends on a lot of variables, for example the storage and bandwidth costs that Ableton has to cover.
hmmm

Until the new release of Live that autodetects hyperthreading and assigns it's affinity to one processor, you can download a little utility called RunOnProcessorExplicitly 1.00. It's available at http://drn.digitalriver.com/category.ph ... sed%7CDESC
Basically, once installed, you create a shortcut to ROPE.exe, and then the PDF tells you what parameters to use. For me, it's the following:
"C:\Program Files\ROPE\ROPE.exe" -p 1 -n "C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 4.0.1\Program\Live 4.0.1.exe"
In my example, -p determines the number of processors, and -n is the location of the application. You can even change the generic XP/2K icon by clicking on the Change Icon button and go to the Live exe to use the proper icon. Once you run it, it'll launch Live with the affinity set to CPU 1 only.
Let me know if this works for you. Good luck!

It actually turned out that being a NOOB, I was also making NOOB mistakes - my AC adapter in the laptop in question had gone defective and turned a P4 3.2 Ghz into a P3 800 Mhz type performance, although Live 6.0.1 also had some issues, but they got cleared up quite quickly. I still purchased Live 6 after getting a replacement AC adapter and it ran very well thereafter.I recently downloaded the demo for Live 6 having been interested and followed Live's progress for a while. I was seriously considering purchasing it but I wanted to trial it first. The demo eventually worked after crashing my computer the first 2 times it tried installing. I have heard many good things about Live being an efficient tool like Propellerhead's Reason (which I own v2.5) but am finding the demo to be very sluggish and nasty...

mikemc wrote:Now I'm pretty sure Ableton is trying not to get platform specific on the UI, but if one could optionally configure the ability to do right click with even just the typical undo/cut/copy/paste that would be nifty.
It would also be useful to have a list of most recent sets opened in the File dropdown.
